Audiologists can now screen newborns for hearing loss within 24 hours form birth—the earlier a hearing loss is detected the better chances for the child to learn speech and language and use hearing aids successfully.
      Some children have normal hearing at birth but acquire a hearing loss later on. Anytime a parent/physician suspects a problem, a complete audiological exam should be obtained. This way, the child’s hearing function can be ascertained and hearing aids can be fit as prescribed.
